Chile: New Report Sheds Light on Pablo Neruda's Cause of Death
A former diplomat and senator from the Communist Party, Neruda died two weeks after a military coup toppled the leftist government of Salvador Allende. The official cause of death was cancer. However, in 2013, after new evidence was found, a judge ordered the exhumation of Neruda’s remains and sent the samples to geneticists. Last week the experts concluded that the official cause of death is impossible to determine.
